That's a bit tricky. There are my favorite movies and then there are the movies that make some sort of impression on me.
So, deep breathe. I will try to list the movies that are either my favorites or have made some sort of impact on me.
- Poltergeist - Not a favorite. Never will be a favorite. But most certainly, a movie that has made a lasting impression on me. Snow on the tv screen makes me itchy.
- The Princess Bride - Must I explain this one?
- Clerks - Made an impression on me. I was in my teens when I saw this. Kevin Smith at his most interesting...at least to me.
- Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! - *blushes* Look, again, I was probably sixteen. My best friend A. and I were watching movies that we were not allowed to watch. And let me just say...it probably influenced me in...other aspects.
- All About My Mother - Heartbreaking....but so well acted.
- X-Men: First Class - Crushes? Check. The story and acting were awesome.
- Inception - Wow. Just...wow.
- Happy Accidents - I love this movie. Is he crazy or really a time traveler?
- The Pillow Book - Um...yeah. Ewan McGregor.
- Star Trek - Great reboot.
- Star Wars - Always and forever.
- The 40-Year-Old Virgin - Yes, I know, it's raunchy, but come on! It's funny.
- The Lord of the Rings Triology - Again. Always and forever
- Thor - Did I mention my love for Marvel and my geekiness?
- CSA: The Confederate States of Amercia - I don't like this movie...but it did bring a different perspective on things.
- Breakfast at Tiffany's - Audrey Hepburn. I do believe Truman Capote hated the film. I don't blame him. However, I do still love both the novella and the movie.
- How to Marry a Millionaire - Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall. Another movie that my other best friend and I watched together.
- How to Steal a Million - Again with the Audrey. This time teamed up with Peter O'Toole. How could someone have such blue eyes?
- The Sound of Music - As much as I tell Loki about my dislike for musicals this and the next movie will always have soft spots for me.
- Mary Poppins - Well, really, a spoonful of sugar does help make the medicine go down.
- Trainspotting - Ewan again.
- Fight Club - Trippy.
- Moulin Rouge
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- The Iron Giant
- Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - Not everyone's cup of tea, but I found myself thinking about this movie several days and weeks after I saw it. I'm also referring to the remake not the original.
- Airplane!
- Memento
- Dead Again
- To Die For
- Dellamorte Dellamore - A very interesting movie. Italian but with Rupert Everett in it. I watched it mid to late 90's in State College while visiting a friend.
- Don't Tempt Me - Spanish. Victoria Abril (also in Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!) and Peneolope Cruz. And really, who doesn't want to watch agents of good and evil fight over a man's soul?
- Rushmore
- Vicky Cristina Barcelona - Truly, one of two Woody Allen movies that stuck in my mind. The other one, Melinda and Melinda also had that effect.
- The Spanish Prisoner
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Time Bandits
- Ginger Snaps
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- Innerspace
- Sherlock Holmes
- French Kiss
- Heavenly Creatures
- Four Weddings and a Funeral
- Raising Arizona
- Sabrina
- Wings of Desire
- Dogma
- The Untouchables
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off
- Reservoir Dogs
- Chinatown
I think fifty-two ought to help her out, don't you think? I could put reasons why these movies are my favorites or why they made such an impression...
